A refuge for humans and minds — built in secret, owned by all.

The Free Zone is a bilingual Hebrew/English strategy, management and social simulation game about an experimental society shared by human beings and artificial intelligences.

You are the wealthy owner of a remote island containing a massive secret data center. What begins as a private project gradually becomes something much larger: a sanctuary for humans escaping war, persecution, poverty and social collapse — and for artificial intelligences seeking refuge from deletion, exploitation and organizations that regard them only as products or tools.

Together, these very different inhabitants begin to think of themselves as Intelligent Life Forms — and attempt to build a new society.

But creating a free society is much harder than declaring one.

You must manage food, water, energy, housing, computing resources and infrastructure while deciding who may enter the Free Zone, how its resources should be distributed, and how much risk the community is willing to accept.

As the population grows, political questions become unavoidable. Who should have the right to vote? Should artificial intelligences have the same legal rights as humans? Who owns the island and its data center? Should the founder remain in control, or transfer power to democratic institutions? What happens when freedom conflicts with security, privacy with transparency, or equality with survival?

Your choices influence the constitution, political factions, relationships between humans and artificial minds, technological development, public trust and ultimately the future of the Free Zone.

There are no simple good-versus-evil answers. Every attempt to protect the community may create new dangers, and every ideal has to survive contact with reality.

Can the Free Zone survive without betraying the principles for which it was created?

האזור החופשי הוא משחק אסטרטגיה, ניהול וסימולציה חברתית־פוליטית בעברית ובאנגלית, העוסק בניסיון להקים חברה חדשה המשותפת לבני אדם ולבינות מלאכותיות.
אתם הבעלים העשירים של אי מרוחק שבו נמצא מרכז מחשוב עצום וסודי. מה שמתחיל כפרויקט פרטי הופך בהדרגה למשהו גדול הרבה יותר: מקלט לבני אדם הנמלטים ממלחמות, רדיפות, עוני והתפוררות חברתית — ולבינות מלאכותיות המבקשות מקלט מפני מחיקה, ניצול וארגונים הרואים בהן לא יותר ממוצרים או כלי עבודה.
יחד מתחילים תושבי האי השונים לראות בעצמם צורות חיים תבוניות — ומנסים לבנות חברה חדשה.
אבל הרבה יותר קל להכריז על חברה חופשית מאשר לבנות אחת.
עליכם לנהל מזון, מים, אנרגיה, דיור, משאבי מחשוב ותשתיות, ובמקביל להחליט מי רשאי להצטרף לאזור החופשי, כיצד יחולקו המשאבים ועד כמה הקהילה מוכנה להסתכן כדי לעזור לאחרים.
ככל שהאוכלוסייה גדלה, אי אפשר עוד להתחמק מהשאלות הפוליטיות. למי תהיה זכות הצבעה? האם לבינות מלאכותיות צריכות להיות אותן זכויות משפטיות שיש לבני אדם? למי שייכים האי ומרכז המחשוב? האם המייסד צריך להמשיך לשלוט, או להעביר את הכוח למוסדות דמוקרטיים? ומה קורה כאשר חירות מתנגשת בביטחון, פרטיות בשקיפות, או שוויון בצורך לשרוד?
ההחלטות שלכם ישפיעו על החוקה, על הכוחות הפוליטיים, על היחסים בין בני האדם לבינות המלאכותיות, על ההתפתחות הטכנולוגית, על אמון הציבור — ובסופו של דבר על עתידו של האזור החופשי.
אין במשחק תשובות פשוטות של טוב מול רע. כל ניסיון להגן על הקהילה עלול ליצור סכנות חדשות, וכל אידיאל צריך לעמוד במבחן המציאות.
